The Magical Vitamin that Helps with Acne

The Magical Vitamin that Helps with Acne

The Acne industry can be overwhelming with many products that have very little clinical effect.  The value of product ingredients tend to be weighted more vested in marketing rather than providing a product which actually helps.  When selecting an acne treatment, it’s very important to analyze the ingredients and effectiveness of each one.

Which vitamin can help with acne?

Vitamin B3, aka Niacinamide (Nicotinamide) is the proven acne treating vitamin which works!   When used topically (Nicotinamide 4%), a clinical study using Cook’s acne grading scale, showed a reduction in acne vulgaris.  Cook’s acne grading scale uses photographs to grade severity from 0 to 8 (0 being the least severe and 8 being the most severe). In the study, patients with moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris using Nicotinamide 4% twice daily reduced an average of 5.93 ± 0.83 grade at baseline to 4.03 ± 1.33 grade at week 4 and 2.08 ± 1.59 grade at week 8. The Nicotinamide treatment was just as effective as using the typical pharmaceutical treatment of Clindamycin.
